Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties DLC – Complete Walkthrough

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is a remake of the original game, and Dark Ties is a new expansion. This brings new content that focuses on the journey of Mine instead of Kiryu. Since the ending of this game has been changed, it makes sense that the expansion is based on Mine’s past. The main criticism is regarding Kiwami 3, not Dark Ties, so it offers quite a fun experience. For more information, check out its Steam page.

The Dark Ties DLC features three chapters, so it is not that short. However, it is still pretty fun to play as Mine. Here, I will provide you with complete walkthroughs of Chapters 1, 2, and 3: Hunger, Complicity, and The Kirin’s Ambition in Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties.

Hunger Walkthrough – Dark Ties DLC

You will now be playing as Mine, the antagonist of Yakuza Kiwami 3. Once the cutscene ends, your objective will be pretty simple. You just have to walk to the marker, and a cutscene will commence. For now, you have to defeat some punks. Mine’s style is different from Kiryu’s, as instead of Dragon Boost, he has Dark Awakening.

If you have only one heart, you can press R2 for Dark Awakening. If you have two or more, you can hold R2, and that will strengthen this ability. You will have to complete the tutorial and then defeat the punks. After that, a cutscene will commence, featuring some assassins trying to kill Daigo.

Take A Taxi to the Prison

Once the cutscene is over, take the taxi right in front of you and head to the prison. Then, a cutscene will start, and when it ends, your objective will be to tail Kanda. Even if he goes out of your reach, do not worry, the mission will not fail. Simply head to the marked area, and a cutscene will be triggered.

As you are tailing him, some punks will attack you. Defeat them, and a cutscene will commence.

Stop Kanda

As Kanda has just gotten out of prison and Mine has to use him to rise in the world of the Yakuza, you have to stop him from harassing the woman. Now you have to fight him.

Defeat Kanda

As the fight starts, hold R2 to activate Dark Awakening and perform some combos on Kanda. Keep attacking him, and eventually his aura will be depleted. Even if Dark Awakening ends, you can continue on full offense and damage him.

Mine’s quickstep is similar to Kiryu’s, so make sure to utilize it correctly. Kanda is a slow but heavy hitter, so his attacks should be pretty easy to dodge. Once you have defeated him, a cutscene will start, and when it ends, you will be walking around with Kanda.

Enter Nishikiyama Family HQ

You will eventually reach the Nishikiyama Family HQ, so when you do, enter it. Inside will be the acting patriarch of the family, Shinpei Ikari. During the cutscene, Mine will join the Nishikiyama family, and when it ends, your objective will be to head to the Furukane Family office.

Head to the location marked on your map. It will be a little far away, so if you encounter some enemies along the way, defeat them for some quick cash. When you reach the Furukane Family office, interact with the elevator and select the first option. Then a cutscene will commence, and when it ends, you will have to face Furukane Family patriarch Furukane and his men in battle.

Defeat the Furukane Family

There are going to be some enemies with a gun. Take care of them first, then the rest, leaving only Furukane. Once you have dealt with the smaller enemies, it is time to shift your entire focus to Furukane. He will only have one health bar, but as a boss, he will have an aura.

This will not be a difficult fight to win, so you can defeat him even without Dark Awakening. However, if you want to finish the fight quickly, use Dark Awakening and make quick work of him. When you have defeated him, a cutscene will be triggered, and when it ends, Chapter 1, Hunger in Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, will be over.

Complicity Walkthrough

As Complicity in Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties starts, a cutscene will commence. When it ends, your objective will be to scope out the Rikiishi clan building.

Scope Out The Rikiishi Clan Building

Head toward the spot marked on your map. As you do, some Nagatani family members will approach you. After a conversation, you will have to fight them. Some of the enemies will block your hits, and that can be really annoying, especially with Mine battle style.

So, I recommend grabbing them. Mine grab is unique, and it deals quite a lot of damage. Once you have defeated everyone, more members of the family will appear, and Kanda will come to your rescue. Then, a cutscene will start, and when it ends, you will have to boost Kanda’s reputation by doing good deeds.

You will have to increase the rank to Trashy first. That can be done by doing some good deeds. There is a woman just near the office who wants to see a perfect strike in bowling. That would give you 250 points, so complete that and then beat up some troublesome men who are disturbing civilians. Once the rank has reached Trashy, you will have to talk to Zenda, and after that, select Cloiseum investigation from the menu.

Investigate The Underground Fight Club

Head to the marked location, and surprisingly, Mine will be invited into the fight club due to his reputation. Then, you will be introduced to Hell Arena, where you are going to participate. Since you have no choice but to participate, your goal will be to make it out of Hell alive.

Make It Out Of Survival Hell Alive

You will have 12 minutes to defeat everyone and make it out of the arena. There are going to be eight enemies at the start, so defeat them all and move on. There will be some objects in the area that you can break to get some gifts. The gifts can include health recovery, weapon stamina recovery, and some other buffs.

Then, go ahead and defeat the Treasure Keeper, open the treasure, and keep moving forward. Ahead, there will be a Phase Keeper who is protecting a gong. You need to ring the gong to move on to the next phase. This Phase Keeper is not going to be difficult, so defeat him and ring the gong.

Move On To The Next Phase

Go ahead, defeat some enemies along the way, and then open the gate with the dollar sign. After that, you will face the Master Keeper, who is not that strong. The game seems to make a big deal out of him by giving you a warning, but his health is quite low. You can defeat him pretty easily, and when you do, you will clear the initiation trial.

After that, a cutscene will commence, and you will be done investigating the Coliseum. You can come back here to try even harder trials and earn more money. You still have to boost Kanda’s reputation, so do some good deeds and then have a chat with Zenba. After that, your objective will be updated to talk to Kanda.

Hear What Kanda Has To Say

Head over to Kanda and talk to him. You will then get two options to choose from. Select the first one, and then a cutscene will start. During the cutscene, Kanda will ask Mine what type of woman he likes. You will get three options. I laughed out loud at the third option because it was just too hilarious.

Select any option you want, and after a while, you will get more choices. Select any you prefer, and then the cutscene will continue. When the cutscene ends, you will be tasked with meeting Daigo Dojima.

Take A Taxi To Tojo Clan HQ

The taxi will be pretty far away from your location. Head there and defeat any enemies you encounter during the journey. Then, a cutscene will be triggered, and you will meet Daigo. When the cutscene ends, you will be tasked with finding Kanda.

Find Kanda

It seems like Kanda is in danger, so head over to the marked location on the map, and a cutscene will be triggered. After that, you will have to fight some suspicious men. There will not be that many of them, so this fight is going to be pretty easy. Once the fight is over, a cutscene will commence, and Mine will make a deal with the acting patriarch.

Then, you will be tasked with going to Hell Arena to spend some time before the deal.

Head To Hell Arena

Once you reach Hell Arena, enter and choose Brawler Hell. In this hell, you will have to brawl against three enemies and win. The most troublesome is going to be the first one, The Lone Ravager. You cannot blindly attack him all the time. Mine’s fighting style is quite different from Kiryu’s, so you will have to dodge a lot.

Take advantage of the quicksteps, and after you perform a perfect one, hit the enemy with an attack and then instantly press triangle to use a heat action. I do not recommend using Dark Awakening on this enemy because he dodges a lot. Once you have defeated him, the other two are going to be pretty easy.

The next one is going to be Nowhere Man. He will block a lot, so you should wait for him to strike first and then quickstep to perform a combo. His aura will be depleted pretty soon, so go on full offense and defeat him. After that, Rogue Prowler will appear.

This fight will be pretty simple, too, and here you can utilize Dark Awakening. Make quick work of him, and the brawl will be over. After that, select Survival Hell and choose Trials of Origins.

Survival Hell – Trials Of Origins

You need to find a manhole to be able to go to the Phase Keeper. So go ahead, defeat the enemies, and head north. Defeat more enemies and then take a U-turn to the right. There will be a manhole just ahead. Open it, go straight, and then take a right to find the Phase Keeper.

Defeat the Phase Keeper and then ring the gong. Then, go straight, defeat some enemies, and keep heading north. At the end of the path, there will be another Phase Keeper. Defeat him to proceed to phase three. Head north, defeat the enemies, and when you are in a giant room, go left to find the gate.

However, before you can enter through the gate, you need to ring one more gong. So, while facing the gate, head right and defeat the Phase Keeper. Then, ring the gong and open the gate. Now, you have to defeat the Master Keeper. There will be some small enemies too, so deal with them first and then focus on the Master Keeper.

Since he is using hook claws, he can be a pain to deal with. So, use Dark Awakening to gain the upper hand and defeat him. Then, exit the stage, and your objective will be updated.

Head To The Docks By The Car

Head to the car and leave for the harbor. As you do, a cutscene will commence. When the cutscene ends, you will have to face Nishikiyama Family Acting Patriarch Shinpei Ikari in battle.

Defeat Ikari

Ikari deals a lot of damage, and he is fast. His health pool is also quite big. You can hit him with combos, but he can quickstep and catch you in his own combo. So, whenever you see him quickstep, either quickstep twice, which is an unlockable ability, or time your quickstep before he hits you to land another combo.

Constantly keep the pressure on him while taking fewer hits to deplete his aura. Then, I recommend using Dark Awakening to deal serious damage in a short amount of time. When his first health bar is about to end, a scripted event will happen, and if you input the correct command, he will take damage.

Keep using this tactic, and the fight will be over before you know it. However, when his first health bar is depleted, he will perform a big combo. The indicator of that will be a red light in his eyes. Either quickstep through the hits or run away. When you defeat him, a cutscene will be triggered, and when it ends, Chapter Two, Complicity, will be over in Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties.

The Kirin’s Ambition Walkthrough

After the cutscene ends, your first task will be to boost Kanda’s reputation. Do good deeds, and when the rank goes up to Actual Good Person, collect rewards from Zenba. After that, talk to Kanda and choose the first option. He will ask you to guess his type of woman again. Choose the first option, and when the conversation ends, your objective will be updated.

Take A Taxi To Tojo Clan HQ

Head to where the taxi is and go to Tojo Clan HQ. Then a cutscene will commence, and when it ends, you will have a conversation with Kanda. After that, your objective will be to head to Tojo Clan HQ with Kanda. On the way, you will be ambushed by Ikari and his men. So, it is time to fight him and his men again.

First, you will have to defeat his subordinates, which should not be challenging. There are going to be quite a few of them, but they will go down pretty easily. Defeat them, and then a mini cutscene will commence. When it ends, defeat the enemies with guns, and then you will have to fight Yoshii.

He blocks a lot, so I recommend waiting for him to strike. You can also go behind him by quickstepping. Then more enemies will appear, with Hamada and Hiriyama being the main ones. Once you defeat them, a cutscene will be triggered, and Kanda will betray Mine.

Then, when the cutscene ends, you will have to fight Ikari once again.

Defeat Ikari

Shinpei will take quite little damage and hits like a truck. Since he is using a weapon, you need to utilize your quicksteps more. As soon as you see him dodge, do not continue your combo and get ready to quickstep. Also, when you perform a perfect quickstep, hit him with square and immediately press triangle.

Keep using this tactic until his aura is depleted. When his aura is depleted, use Dark Awakening and go on full offense. When his first health bar is almost finished, a scripted event will happen. Press X at the right time to hit him, and he will take some damage.

His aura will now be back, so try to use the same tactic as before and deplete it. Once it is depleted, use Dark Awakening, and you should be able to finish this fight. Then, a pretty long cutscene will play, and when it ends, The Kirin Ambition will be over, along with Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties.
