Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Walkthrough – Chapter 2: The Ryudo Encounter

Yakuza Kiwami 3 is the remake of the iconic action-adventure title Yakuza 3. The game follows the story of Kiryu, who is trying to settle down and live a normal life while running an orphanage. However, since he has never truly lived a peaceful life, certain events refuse to let him find the calm he seeks. For more information, you can visit its Steam page.

After completing Chapter One, you finally head to Okinawa. Now, after living peacefully for over a year, Kiryu’s normal life is about to be disturbed once again. Here, I will provide you with a complete walkthrough of Chapter 2, The Ryudo Encounter, in Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties.

The Ryudo Encounter Walkthrough

The chapter begins with a cutscene where you learn that Izumi, one of the children at the orphanage, is missing. Your objective is to find her.

Find Izumi

Izumi is at the beach, so head north, and you will find her there. Next to her, there is a box that you can examine to obtain an item. Speak with Izumi, and you will need to figure out what happened to her. Among the first dialogue options, I chose the second one: Did something happen at school?

She will begin to open up to you, and you will receive more dialogue options afterward. I selected “You do have a family, Izumi.” After a long conversation, Izumi joins everyone for dinner, and six more peaceful months pass. In the following cutscene, you learn that Kiryu has been receiving eviction notices. The Ryudo boys have been showing up and are beginning to cause trouble.

Head To Downtown Ryukyu

Since they are becoming a serious problem, your next objective is to head to Downtown Ryukyu and locate their head office. Go right and select Downtown Ryukyu to travel there immediately. However, before tracking down the Ryudo headquarters, you need to stop by Miya san’s dojo for training.

Head To Miya-san’s Dojo To Learn A New Battle Style

On the map, you may also notice marks indicating the Reapers. Defeat them to earn a hefty amount of money as a reward. After that, head to the dojo, where you will learn a new battle style.

Switch to the Ryukyu style and complete the tutorial. This battle style allows you to block bullets and blades, which will be extremely useful in upcoming fights. Once the tutorial is complete, you will need to defeat Miya san in combat, which should not be too difficult.

After the fight, Miya san offers you the option to change clothes. Choose any of the available outfits, and a cutscene will trigger once you are done. As you step outside with Miya san, you will soon find yourself in a fight against a group of troublesome men.

Test Out The New Battle Style

You can now use these enemies to test out the new battle style and get comfortable with it. You will have access to Nunchaku, so make sure to use them. Another weapon available to you is the Eiku. The third weapon is the Surujin, which can be used for AoE attacks.

Do note that you will need to hold the specific buttons to use these weapons properly. Now, use any of these weapons to defeat the enemies surrounding you and practice the new mechanics.

Locate The Ryudo Family

Now that you have defeated the enemies, your next objective is to locate the Ryudo family. Head toward the marker on the map, and a cutscene will begin. During this scene, you will meet several members of the family and be introduced to the captain of the Ryudo family, The Fighting Viper, Rikiya Shimabukuro.

Before you are allowed to meet the boss, you will have to deal with him first.

Defeat Ryudo Family Captain, Rikiya Shimabukuro

Since this is a boss battle, Rikiya will have an aura. When he has the yellow aura, it will be difficult to stagger him, and he will be able to interrupt your combos with his attacks. However, this is when you should focus on executing counters. Even if he hits you in the middle of your combo, you can still perform a counter.

You may get hit once or twice, but successfully countering him will quickly shift the momentum in your favor. However, keep in mind that he can counterattack as well, so you do not want to take too many unnecessary hits. He hits very hard and has two health bars, so if you become too overconfident, you might end up losing the fight.

As soon as his aura is depleted, go fully on the offensive. Do not worry too much about defense at that moment. Keep attacking with your combos, and if you want to switch styles, you can do so. However, I do not recommend changing the battle style, as sticking with it will help you master this new style more effectively.

Also, remember that you have access to Dragon Boost in this battle style. Utilize it, preferably when Rikiya’s aura is depleted, and make sure to finish with a Dragon Finisher to remove a significant portion of his health. Another important thing to note is that you can still evade. If you are not confident in performing perfect blocks, you can simply roll away and reposition yourself.

There are also some chairs around the area. You can pick them up and trigger a Heat Action, which will also remove a chunk of his health. After you defeat him, he will take you to the boss’s office.

Go To The Public Market

As he escorts you to the boss’s office, some trouble will arise, and you will need to head to the Public Market first. If you are low on health, I recommend eating beforehand so you can recover your HP. Once you enter the Public Market, a cutscene will begin.

After that, you will need to take care of several Yakuza members.

Defeat Tamashiro Family Grunts

In this fight, there are going to be several enemies using guns. You should ideally take care of them first, as they can shoot you from a distance and quickly drain your health. You can either guard against such attacks or simply quickstep to avoid them. Before an enemy fires, a sign will appear above his head, which indicates when you should quickstep.

Using the Surujin successfully in this fight can help a lot. If you manage to execute the full attack combo, you can take out a few enemies at once. This fight will not be very challenging, so defeat all of them, and a cutscene will trigger. After the cutscene, Rikiya will take you to the boss.

Enter The Ryudo Family Office

You will now be standing outside the Ryudo family office, so go ahead and enter. As soon as you step inside, a cutscene will begin featuring the boss of the Ryudo family. After a lengthy conversation and some intense dialogue from Kiryu, he will leave the office, and your next objective will begin.

Head To Chura Bar

Your next destination is Chura Bar. On the way, you will meet the chairman of the shopping district. He will give you some raffle tickets since a raffle event is currently being held, and the stand is located just ahead. Head over there to try your luck. Afterward, the game will explain this mechanic to you in more detail.

Next, you will need to complete the tutorial for Fortune Finder Foto Rally. Take a photo of the sign at the entrance to Kariyushi Arcade, and Winnie-chan will reward you. Continue heading toward the quest marker, and along the way, you will come across someone who is injured.

She will take you to her boss, and you will soon have to fight the Tokyo Night Terrors.

Defeat The Tokyo Night Terrors

There are only a few of them, so defeating them will not be too difficult. Take care of the enemies, and a cutscene will play. It is revealed that the boss of the girls’ gang is Miya-san’s daughter. After the cutscene ends, you will have to fight additional members of the Tokyo Night Terrors.

Defeat Yahagi And His Men

Yahagi will be the main enemy in this fight. Since the girls will be fighting alongside you, you can focus primarily on him. He is armed with a weapon, so avoid staying purely on the offensive without paying attention to his attacks.

If the other enemies start interfering with your fight against him, defeat them first to create some space. This battle will not be particularly difficult. Once you defeat Yahagi and his men, a cutscene will begin, and you will be appointed as the chairman of this gang. After that, you will need to head to their base.

Now that you are the chairman, your next objective is to recruit more members.

Recruit More Allies

As you exit the base, your objective will change. You will need to help a woman who is being threatened by members of the Tokyo Night Terrors. Head to the marked location and start the fight. Defeat the enemies that appear. The main opponent here is Hiroaki, and he will have an aura.

Because of that, you will need to be careful during this fight. I recommend using the Surujin attack to deal massive area damage to nearly every enemy at once. This will also help the rest of your gang secure victory more easily. After weakening the group, focus your attention on Hiroaki and defeat him. Your standard combo strings can remove a large portion of his health, so this fight should not cause you too much trouble.

When the battle ends, you will recruit a new member, Madam Aki.

Gather Ten Or More Allies

Now you must recruit ten or more additional members. You can do this by exploring the area and searching for the pink circles marked on the ground. Some characters will join you simply because they hold a grudge against the Tokyo Night Terrors, while others will need to be rescued, just like Madam Aki.

Once you have recruited ten members, the objective will update and instruct you to head back to the base. However, you are free to recruit even more members if you wish. When you are satisfied with your squad size, return to the base and manage your team. After organizing your squad, a cutscene will begin.

Turf War

When the cutscene ends, a turf war will start. You will need to ride a bike to the enemy location. Defeat all the enemies inside the area to secure the warehouse. After that, get back on the bike and head to the next location. Once you have captured all the enemy bases, it will be time for the final showdown.

Inside the final warehouse, many enemies will rush toward you. The main targets in this fight are Yoza and Yahagi. Both of them are strong opponents, and you will need to handle them yourself since they will be too much for the girls to manage alone. Focus on Yahagi first and use Dragon Boost to defeat him quickly.

After defeating Yahagi, turn your attention to Yoza and finish the fight. Once the battle concludes, Yoza and Miyagi will join the gang. Finally, return to the orphanage, and Chapter 2, The Ryudo Encounter in Yakuza Kiwami 3, will be completed.
