Yogscast Jingle Jam 2021 begins today, benefiting SpecialEffect and more
01 Dec, 2021
Yogscast Jingle Jam 2021 will be taking place for a fortnight starting today, supporting a range of charities, including SpecialEffect.
Yogscast’s excellent Jingle Jam is returning this year, bringing a fortnight-long event raising funds for a variety of charities. Celebrating their inclusion in the mix are SpecialEffect, a UK-based charity that helps make video games more accessible to players with disabilities.
Jingle Jam 2021 will be starting today, i.e. Wednesday December 1st, at 5pm GMT. Described as the world’s largest game charity event, Jingle Jam has raised over $20 million since its inception in 2011.
The event will host livestreams from The Yogscast, apart from letting fans create their own Jingle Jam events. Donations made to fan livestreams will also count towards the main total and go towards the supported charities.
One of the key charities supported here is SpecialEffect, which works with game developers to create gaming set-ups that allow players with physical disabilities to play games just like everyone else. The Yogscast has worked with SpecialEffect in the past, and the spread of awareness and donations has changed lives.
An example of this impact is David, a C4/5 tetraplegic, who learned about SpecialEffect through Jingle Jam, and is now able to play games again thanks to the assistance provided by the charity.
SpecialEffect is also holding its own livestreaming events this fortnight, the first of which will be on December 3rd, starting 4pm GMT at the SpecialEffect Twitch page.
Other charities included in the event are Whale and Dolphin Conservation, as well as The Grand Appeal, which supports Bristol Children’s Hospital.
The event will also feature the 2021 Jingle Jam Games Collection, providing donators with a collection of video games representing excellent value. Last year’s collection featured such terrific and celebrated indie games as Transistor, Dicey Dungeons, Dream Daddy, Sunless Sea, Don’t Starve, Prison Architect, and Starbound.
