The Invincible: Release date, pre-order and everything we know

The Invincible is a sci-fi adventure game from Starward Industries, marking the Polish studio’s debut. Here’s everything we know about it.

The Invincible release date and platforms

The Invincible is set to release on November 6, 2023. Although the game was originally announced for a planned release in 2021, it was since delayed. The newest and firmest release date puts the game squarely in the final quarter of 2023.

On release day, The Invincible will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The game will not be available on last-gen platforms like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, and it will also not be available on the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps the rumored successor to the Switch will have better luck? We can only hope.

The Invincible Trailer

There are several trailers for The Invincible on Starward Industries’ official YouTube channel. Here’s the latest one embedded below.

What is The Invincibleโ€™s setting and plot?

The Invincible is set in a retro-futuristic โ€˜atompunkโ€™ universe inspired by Space Race-era motifs. The game is an adaptation of the 1964 novel โ€˜The Invincibleโ€™ by Polish sci-fi writer Stanislaw Lem.

The gameโ€™s story takes place on the unexplored planet of Regis III, where astrobiologist Yasna finds herself waking up with no memory of how she got there. As a crew member of the spaceship โ€˜The Invincibleโ€™, she searches for her fellow crew members on the barren planet and uncovers strange scientific phenomena on it.

Along the way, she reports her findings to her Astrogator, who provides remote assistance to Yasna while guiding and aiding her.

Beyond this, itโ€™s all a mystery – one that youโ€™ll have to solve by playing the game and uncovering the secrets of Regis III.

The Invincible gameplay

As a story-driven adventure game, The Invincibleโ€™s gameplay involves exploring the planet of Regis III and interacting with the objects and phenomena you find there.

Several retro-futuristic tools are available for you in your investigations, which help you locate crew members or scan metal in your environment. Yasna will also be equipped with a map and journal to help keep track of her findings and objectives.

Does The Invincible have combat?

The Invincible has had two public demos, of which neither involved any weapons or combat of any sort. The game is described as a story-driven adventure, and none of the promotional materials have hinted at the possibility of combat in the game.

Therefore, itโ€™s safe to conclude at this stage that there is no combat gameplay in the game. There are, however, depictions of and references to violence in the game.
