Shinkansen 0

Platforms: PC

The very prolific horror game dev Chilla’s Art takes you to Japanese bullet trains this year with Shinkansen 0. A very short experience like other games from Chilla’s Art, Shinkansen 0 has you finding anomalies in a Shinkansen bullet train, with two endings to discover.

Sker Ritual

Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5

Wales Interactive may be best known for their full-motion video games, but their latest is quite the twist on their usual formula. Sker Ritual is a round-based zombie survival shooter, and you can play it either by yourself or in up to 4-player co-op.

Apart from decimating wave after wave of undead horrors, you’ll also upgrade your steampunk weaponry and collect Celtic god powers to further enhance your abilities.

Psychopomp

Platforms: PC

Psychopomp is a ‘psychological horror dungeon crawler’ from the creators of Dreamwild and Nashbored, and it certainly makes an impression with its dark, retro visuals and surreal imagery.

The game’s sparse premise informs you that there are catacombs beneath every building in the world, and that something is calling you deeper into the labyrinth below.

Midnight Ghost Hunt

Platform: PC

Midnight Ghost Hunt proclaims itself a ‘prop haunt’ game, in which ghosts can hide in perfectly innocent, unassuming furniture and objects. In tense 4v4 contests, Ghost Hunters must find the ghosts and banish them.

While ghosts can use supernatural powers such as floating and turning invisible, ghost hunters are armed with hi-tech equipment to detect and trap ghosts. When it’s the Witching Hour, however, all bets are off and the ghosts become supercharged. Regardless of your side, you’ll have to work with your buddies to beat the other side.

Reveil

Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5

Reveil is a narrative adventure that brings puzzles and exploration with its spooky circus-inspired atmosphere, which gets all the more surreal as you delve into the game’s five acts.

You play as a very disoriented ex-stage builder named Walter Thompson, who must reach into his own disturbing psyche and explore the 60s-style Nelson Bros Circus to find his wife and daughter.

School Labyrinth

Platforms: PC

Some of us barely survived school in the first place, but can you imagine being stuck in a procedurally generated school at night time while a disturbing presence lurks about? That’s what School Labyrinth promises, and it asks you to bring friends, too.

In School Labyrinth, up to 4 players must split up and explore the titular ‘school labyrinth’ to find the exit. Avoid getting lost by yourself, of course, and don’t be sure of anything… or anyone.

The Outlast Trials

Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5

Red Barrels’ The Outlast Trials may be the latest in the Outlast series of survival horror games, but this one brings with a distinctly multiplayer twist.

You and your buddies play as human guinea pigs in the Cold War era, undergoing deranged trials all in the hopes of getting back out. You’ll have to perform disturbing tasks in the trials, while avoiding and hiding from the prowling enemies.

Clem

Platforms: PC, Switch

Mango Protocol’s puzzle adventure game Clem is about exploring an empty mansion and following mysterious instructions. You’ll have to manipulate your environment, discover enchanted items, and capture creepy-crawlies to discover the truth lurking behind this dark, gothic mystery.

Rental

Platforms: PC

Rental is a short and free horror game inspired by classic survival horror games, in which protagonist Umi explores the summer cabin her folks have rented. As Umi explores the place, she will encounter characters who will help piece together what exactly is wrong with this strange place.

Sons of the Forest

Platforms: PC

Sons of the Forest is the sequel to the 2014 cult classic The Forest, and after a year-long stint in Early Access, it’s finally out on PC. An open-world survival horror game, your goal is to find a missing billionaire on a remote island that’s home to cannibalistic monsters.

The game features co-op gameplay, so that you can craft and build together and of course, fight back the mutated demons that threaten to cut your mission – and life – short.
