The Isle of the Dead

Begin by getting off the boat and going up the stairs to meet the Shepherd. After talking to him, pass through the opened doorway.

Proceed until you find a doorway blocked by planks. Crouch to get through this doorway.

On the other side, keep going forward and jump across the gap. Be sure to collect any health items you can find.

Continue on to find a shrine, where you can save your progress and fully heal yourself (but only once).

Head over to the elevator that has now descended. Take it up. Proceed forward and jump into the circular hole ahead.

Pick up the armor ahead and then make your way to the double-doors with red runes on them. Pick up the Blade of Ruination beyond these doors.

With the Blade of Ruination, lay waste to your first enemies. You’ll find that you can lunge forward with the Blade’s secondary attack – this is a very valuable tool when platforming.

After clearing out the Fallen near the Blade, you will be approached by even more Fallen from the path you came. Clear them out as before and continue to a white teleporter.

Use the Ruination Blade’s secondary attack now to cross the gap (ideally while jumping) and then proceed along the path ahead.

You will eventually reach a Red Door, which requires a Red Key to pass through. Ignore the door for now and go right to the next area.

The Red Key is on a pillar high above. To get it, keep going up the stairs, and then lunge across the gap to get to some more stairs.

Proceed spiraling around the pillar. When you get to a doorway blocked by planks, remember that you can break them with your Blade now.

In the next area, you can access a secret by jumping on the dining table and then crouch-jumping through the broken window.

When ready, go up the stairs and through the hallway to reach another big gap. Jump and lunge across, careful not to fall off the edges.

When you reach the white switch, interact with it to lower the pillar with the red key.

Now drop down and grab the key, which will trigger some enemies, including a new type of enemy called the Widow.

Return to the Red Door and interact with it to open it. You’ll find an artifact ahead – pick it up, equip it, and then use it.

Kill the attacking widows and then use the white switch that was previously locked by a gate.

Go up the elevator now and pick up the white coffer key. Use it to open the coffer in the next room.

Head down the stairs from this room, over to the beach. Here, pick up the Soul Tether floating on the dock. This is a consumable that lets you save the game once. Pick it up and use it to unlock the way ahead.

Continue past the opened gate and go up the path ahead to meet the Shepherd once more. Proceed to the white relic that’s hovering nearby and pick it up.

Now go to the standing stone on the portal and interact with it. This enables the portal, so step through to reach Mourningvale.
