Chapter 4

Take the train from Chapter 3 to make it to Chapter 4.

This walkthrough post covers Levels 1 to 5 in Chapter 4 of Viewfinder. For Levels 6 to 9, check the next part of this walkthrough of Viewfinder!

Level 1.1

(The teleporter for this level can be found by entering the Hub World building and looking to the right.)

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

In these levels, you will encounter the ‘violet infection’, which is completely immune to both photography and place pictures.

Finding the Battery and Bypassing Infection

Begin by going left and then down the stairs to find a blue battery. Put it on the teleporter pad up the stairs. Note that as it is a blue battery, you cannot duplicate it by taking a picture of it.

Viewfinder Chapter 4 Level 1.1 blue battery location near stairs

Return to the area where you found the blue battery and take a picture of the floor it was on, capturing as much ground as possible.

Using Photographs to Reach the Teleporter

Now go to the gate with the blue infection, and place the photograph of the ground to the side of the infection. This photograph won’t overwrite the infection, but it will give you plenty of ground with which to go around the gate and retrieve the blue battery beyond.

Put the battery on the pad to proceed.

Level 1.2

Clearing Violet Infection and Aligning Boards

Most of this level is made up of the violet infection. The teleporter is beyond a very narrow metal grate near where you start.

Ignore the teleporter for now and proceed through the only path in the level. At the end of it, you’ll find a picture on three wooden boards. Align the boards to realize the picture.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Grab the Rubik’s Cube and go back up the stairs, to the little inaccessible platform with the chair and table on it.

Finding Photos and Using Them to Access the Teleporter

Get up the platform to find a photograph on the table. Pick it up and apply it on the patterned wall opposite the platform.

This will allow you to go through and access the camera film in the area inside. Pick it up.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Now return to the area where you started this segment, and aim your camera at the teleporter. Take a picture of it.

Place the photograph at the edge of the violet infection, so that you can access the teleporter and move on.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Level 1.3

Creating Bridges and Platforms with Photos

Look opposite the red light bulb to find a small flight of stairs going down.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Go down these stairs and then access the room with the red light bulb. Pick up the photograph hanging from the rope and go back up the stairs.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Go right from the red light bulb and you’ll find a platform located beyond a ‘window’ of sorts. Use the photograph in your hand to build a bridge to that platform and retrieve the next photograph.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

With this photograph go back to the place where you started this level, i.e. near the first red light bulb. Standing a little to the left of the red light bulb, aim your photograph at the platform directly ahead of you.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

The photograph will obscure the platform, but that’s alright because the platform is made of violet infection. Apply the photograph to create two more platforms for you.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Now go around to the platforms you just made and hop across. On the second violet platform, you’ll find a camera film. Pick it up.

Reaching the Final Teleporter

Take a picture of the black-and-white platform next to you and apply it on the other side, so that you can pass on to the platform with the teleporter.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Use the teleporter to conclude this level.

Level 2.1

Photographing the Battery and Solving the Pad Puzzle

(The teleporter to this level is immediately to the left of the first teleporter).

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

In this place, almost everything appears to be blue or violet. Turn around from where you start and make your way to some cardboard boxes with a note on them.

Look to the right to find a battery above you. Take two pictures of the red battery.

Red battery duplication setup for Level 2.1 puzzle

Now return to where you started this segment, aim your battery photograph at the violet infection cage, and place the photo so as to cause the battery to drop onto the pad.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Do this for both batteries (it might take several tries to get the positioning right) and use the teleporter to proceed.

Level 2.2

Moving the Battery Safely with Sky Photos

Take a picture of the ground, covering as much area as possible.

Then, place the photograph directly below the platform with the cage on it.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Now take a picture of the sky and go up the stairs to where the cage with the battery is. Place the sky photograph on the cage, so that it covers all the ground below the battery.

Ground and sky photography technique for Level 2.2

Activating the Teleporter

Go back down the stairs and you’ll find that your battery has safely landed on the ground you created beneath the platform.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Pick up the battery and toss it onto the teleporter pad. Then, use the teleporter to move on.

Level 2.3

Photographing the Lever and Using the Telescope

Go to the telescope and point your camera at the violet infection wall just to the left of the passage.

When you take the picture, it’ll be of the area beyond the wall, i.e. the lever, the teleporter, and the platform they’re on. Place this photograph where convenient.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Hop on to the platform, pull the lever, and step on the teleporter to move on.

Level 2.4

Aligning Photos to Move the Battery onto the Pad

From where you start, take a few steps back and look at the teleporter and its battery pad. Take a picture that includes both of them.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Now go to the lower floor, where there’s a blue battery in a cage. Place the photograph you have so that the pad comes directly beneath the battery.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Use the teleporter to move on.

Level 3.1 (Optional)

Duplicating Batteries Using Black-and-White Film

(This level is optional, and it can be accessed by going up to the middle floor and looking at the teleporter immediately to the right when up the stairs).

Look left for a pedestal with a film on it. Go behind this pedestal while facing the cage and take a picture that includes both the film and the cage with the battery in it.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Place this image to the right of the cage and pick up the black-and-white duplicated film (NOT the original color film).

Return to your previous position and take a picture that includes both batteries and also the color film.

Optional challenge Level 3.1 film duplication method

Place this image at an accessible area to the left of the cage.

Pick up the black-and-white duplicated film and take a picture of any of the batteries. Place the image somewhere.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Powering the Pad with Multiple Batteries

All in all, you should have at least four batteries now. Pick up each of them and put it on the battery pad for the teleporter.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Use the teleporter to move on.

Level 4.1 (Optional)

Photographing and Crossing the Broken Path

(The teleporter to this level is NOT the one on the middle floor next to the window – that one goes to Level 6. For the teleporter to Level 4, which is an optional challenge, go to the other side of the middle floor from where you climbed up the stairs.)

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

From roughly where you start this level, take a picture of the (gap-filled) path ahead of you, leading to the blue teleporter. Do this from the side, not directly straight ahead. Make sure it also includes some of the ground you are standing on.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Place this picture so that the photograph path is parallel to the real path, but not overwriting the real path, and also allowing you to jump to the photograph path.

Chapter 4 Level 4.1 parallel path solution with zig-zag jumping

This way, you should be able to zig-zag your way to the teleporter by hopping alternately on the photograph path and the real path.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

When you get to the teleporter, use it to move on.

Level 5.1 (Optional)

Using Multiple Photos to Build a Complete Path

(This is another optional level. For the teleporter to this level, go out the door on the middle floor and look immediately to the right.)

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Pick up the photograph on the table. Put the photograph in the photocopier as many times as you can, so that you have 7 photographs in your hand in all (1 original, 6 copied).

Begin by placing one photograph rotated so that the battery is upright.

Then, place a second photograph so that there is a path leading to the battery (of course, make sure you don’t overwrite the upright battery).

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Pick up the battery and place it where convenient.

Now place another photograph with the teleporter upright.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Powering the Battery Pad and Reaching the Exit

Place another photograph so that you have a path going around the metal fence and up to the teleporter. You can also place multiple photographs, as you no doubt have extras.

Viewfinder Walkthrough - Chapter 3 (Levels 1-5)

Place the battery on the pad and then use the teleporter to move on.

Frequently Asked Questions – Viewfinder Chapter 4

How do I beat Viewfinder Chapter 4 Level 3.1?

Level 3.1 is an optional challenge requiring film duplication. Stand behind the pedestal with the film while facing the battery cage, photograph both items together, then place the image to access the duplicate black-and-white film. Repeat this process to create four batteries for the teleporter pad.

What’s the solution for Viewfinder Chapter 4 Level 4.1?

Level 4.1 requires creating a parallel path. Photograph the gap-filled walkway from the side (including ground you’re standing on), then place the photo parallel to the real path. Alternate jumping between the photo path and real path in a zig-zag pattern to reach the teleporter.

How do I get past the violet infection in Chapter 4?

The violet infection cannot be overwritten by photographs. Instead, photograph ground or objects adjacent to the infection, then place photos alongside infected areas to create alternative pathways around blocked sections.

Where is the optional challenge in Viewfinder Chapter 4 Level 2.3?

Level 2.3 features a telescope that lets you photograph through the violet infection wall. Point your camera at the wall near the passage to capture the lever and platform beyond, then place this photo to complete the level quickly.

How many batteries do I need for Chapter 4 Level 3.1?

Level 3.1 requires four batteries total. You’ll need to duplicate camera film using the black-and-white duplication mechanic, then photograph batteries multiple times to create enough power sources for the teleporter pad.

What comes after Viewfinder Chapter 4?

After completing Chapter 4, proceed to Chapter 5 by taking the train from the Hub World. Chapter 5 introduces new camera mechanics and timed photography challenges.
