Chapter 2

Part 2

While the power is on, you can’t enter the mine entrance area as the fence and gate are electrified. You’ll need to keep the gate open somehow to enter the area while the power is on.

For now, though, keep the power on and go back to the rest area with the shacks and tables.

We can now enter the shack with the blue-grey door, as we already have the keycard for it – but we need to find the right code too.

Interact with the diary one more time and read the very first page to find the code written in bold at the bottom: 331652.

Back away from the journal and examine the keycard you already possess (we picked this up from the miner suit near the door).

Turn the card over to the back to find the card reader color code. If you translate the code you have into this color code, you get: Yellow – Yellow – Dark Blue – Green – Pink – Red.

Now interact with the keycard reader next to the blue-grey door. If you can’t see it, you might need to interact with the jackets one more time to reveal it.

Use your keycard on the keycard slot and then enter the code as mentioned above. Note that if you get the code wrong, you’ll have to slide the keycard through the slot again.

Go through the open door now. Pick up the shaft lifter key that’s leaning against the controls on the ground.

Then, interact with the screen displaying white noise. Turn the channel dial twice to the right, so that you’re on the ‘yellow’ channel. This one faces the mine entrance.

Turn the rotation dial four times to the right and then examine the electrical connector poking out of the boxes that you couldn’t interact with before.

Now exit this screen and exit the shack. Before moving on from the work area, let’s straighten the shaft lifter key we found.

Use the shaft lifter key on the presser machine to the right of the miner suit.

Follow the on-screen UI and interact right when the arrow is in the gap to straighten the key. This might take a few tries!

Now leave the rest area and return to the pick-up truck area. Use the switchboard here to turn the power off.

Go through the gate to the left to re-enter the mine entrance area. Here, interact with the boxes right below where the crane is, to find the electrical connector we spied through the security camera.

You should now have three electrical connectors in your inventory. Interact with the red connector box to the left of the boxes.

On the connector box screen, first use the small key on the keyhole above the handle. Remember to turn the key, which will open the connector box.

Pick up the two electrical connectors inside, to increase your tally of connectors to five. Exit the connector box screen for now.

We now need to turn the power back on, but also to return to the connector box after that. To accomplish this, use the screwdriver on the door stopper just to the left of the gate.

Go through the gate and use the handle on the switchboard to turn the power back on.

Now go through the open gate again and interact with the connector box one more time.

Our goal here is to place the electrical connectors so that the green lights are connected – but also that none of the connections are dead-ends.

There are three possible light configurations, of which you can use any one. To change the light configuration, use the three thin buttons on top of the main connector area.

Switch to the first configuration and place your connectors are shown below.

You can now enter the mine at long last, so do just that. Inside, go to the far left of the screen and you’ll find the mine shaft door on the ground.

Use the shaft key on this shaft door to open it up.

This done, we can finally get Hannah and enter the mine. Return to the pickup truck area and talk to Hannah. Mention that you need to go underground. Then say that you have to go now.

With Hannah on piggyback, go back into the mine and then down the shaft. This concludes Chapter 2 of The Night is Grey.
