Chapter 4

Part 2

The park ranger wants toilet paper, which is stored in the wooden cabinet at the base of the ranger tower.

Before moving on, interact with the toilet to the left of the wooden bench. There’s a symbol on the inside of the door here, which is going to be useful.

Then, examine the wooden bench itself, which will get you a second mysterious ring. (Note that this will only happen if you used the crayon on the park ranger’s journal earlier).

Leave the toilets area now and return to the hub. Then, go back to the tower area and interact with the wooden cabinet.

The wooden cabinet has a toy lock. To open the lock itself, you’ll have to input the right “code” of symbols. The clues to this puzzle can be found on the pink page in the park ranger’s journal, atop the tower.

The Night is Grey Walkthrough - Chapter 4 (Part 2)

As for where to find the symbols – you’ll find the first symbol in the Park Entrance/Exit area, the second symbol in the Rock Path area, and the third symbol in the Toilets area, on the inside of the toilet door we just opened.

To see the symbols, you need to turn the lights off for these areas, as the symbols are painted in glow-in-the-dark ink.

The fourth symbol ought to be on top of the tower, but Hannah refuses to allow turning the lights off there. Thankfully, the journal suggests what the final symbol might be.

The Night is Grey Walkthrough - Chapter 4 (Part 2)

When you’re ready, enter the symbols on the lock in this order: Crab -> Anchor -> Pirate Flag -> Heart.

This opens the lock, but you have one more puzzle to solve before the lock is defeated.

Begin by placing the rings from your inventory into place: the big ring to the right and the small ring to the left.

Here, you need to add and subtract lines to create the symbol in the middle.

Check the screenshot below for how to solve this puzzle. Press the button in the middle to finish unlocking and open the cabinet.

There is, however, nothing of use in the cabinet. Exit the screen and Graham will decide to talk to the park ranger regardless.

Now go back to the toilets through the hub and go to the left to where you met the park ranger in the toilet.

Here, you’ll be met with a surprise, and you’ll also find a ring of keys. Graham will automatically pick up the keys.

When you regain control of Graham, go right and to the hub, then to the tower, and then up the stairs to the top of the tower.

Next, exit the tower again and go back to the hub. Then, go right from the hub to the rock path and continue to the right.

Once you’re back in the mine, go through the tunnel, and then go through the door to the Control Room, which is right next to the locked door leading to the elevator.

The Night is Grey Walkthrough - Chapter 4 (Part 2)

In the control room, Graham will automatically interact with the monitor. As you can see on the monitor, Hannah is knocked out on the other side of the elevator and a wolf is approaching her.

You’ll have to use the elevator brake system (the lever to the far right) to move the elevator when the wolf is on it. Before the brake system can be unlocked, however, you need to turn off the gas alarm.

Interact with the Vent Schematics to the right of the monitor and inspect the diagram you see there.

The Night is Grey Walkthrough - Chapter 4 (Part 2)

You have to replicate Section A on the first Vent Control System computer, then Section B on the second Vent Control System computer, and finally, Section A+B combined on the third Vent Control System computer.

Use the first of these computers now to begin.

Here, look at each of the arrows on the grid. Each arrow has a state (filled or empty) and a number that shows where that arrow will place a point. X1 refers to the next square, for example, while X2 refers to two squares away.

To toggle each square of the grid, use the corresponding button on the right. You need to place the filled or empty points so that you will recreate Section A of the diagram that you saw before.

Here’s the solution below. When you’re ready, hit the Enter button on the computer.

Move on to the second computer once Graham finishes looking at the monitor.

Here’s the solution for Section B. As before, hit Enter on the computer when ready.

Finally, do Section A+B on the third computer as shown below, and hit Enter on the computer when you’re done.

With the venting completed, pull the lever to the far right of the room.

Exit the room after this and go through the door to the elevator. Go to the far right to reunite with Hannah.

When you regain control of Graham, use the key ring in your inventory with the Info Booth Door to the left of the main gate.

Then, pick up the key lying on the floor of the info booth. Use this key on the main gate. Then, when talking to Hannah, give her the white cloth that you held on to for so long.

Complete the conversation to finish this chapter of the game and move on to Chapter 5.
