FAR: Changing Tides Walkthrough – Part 8: The Winch

Part 8: The Winch

You can’t swim under this door, so get on top of your ship and raise the mast up high. Climb the mast and then jump onto the walkway above. Climb the ladder here too, to reach the room above.

Run to the right and pull the box with the blue handles to the left, so that you can access the ladder to the right of the room. Climb the ladder all the way up, go up the stairs, and then jump on the blue button overlooking the sea.

This will bring a platform down for you. Get on it and move the lever to the left to raise your platform up to the next walkway. Go right from here, up the ladder and the stairs, and then use the lever to position the long ladder correctly.

Return to the elevator platform and pull the lever left again to get yourself to the uppermost walkway. You can now climb the long ladder and get on top of the rusty structure.

Run right towards the repair tool. Pick up the repair tool when you can and fix the lever of the elevator disk in the middle. Push the lever to the right to head downwards.

Once you’re at the bottom, head left and then drop down. Press the blue button to open up the big door that was blocking your ship.

We aren’t done here just yet, though – we’re going to attach the stern half of the ship that’s hanging nearby to the rear of what remains of our own ship.

Wait for your ship to continue sailing forward and take position. You won’t be able to proceed until it does. Once the ship is in position and the door to your right is open, go right.

There are two levers here and a pair of lights in the middle. Adjust the levers until both the lights turn on (one for each lever). This will position the back half of  the ship just right.

Jump on the blue button above the lights to attach the back half of the ship to your own ship. Wait for the door on your right to open and then head right, down to your ship.

The new back half of the ship has a winch that you can use to pull up metal capsules (which contain fuel items). We’re going to use it now.

Head to the winch on the back half of the ship and grab the hook. Jump through the opened hatch and swim directly downwards to find a metal capsule. Attach the hook to the blue catch on the capsule.

Return to the winch and move the lever to the left to raise the attached capsule. Then, swim back down to where the capsule was and through the opening it has left. You’ll find a blue button here. Push it to open the next door.

In case you haven’t noticed, the capsule will automatically break when you raise it to your ship and drop its contents.

Once the door is open, get your ship moving again and head right.

Keep going for quite a while until you’re stopped by a cliff face.
