Springdance Shrub Seeds and Clues

The Springdance Shrub seeds can be found in the Folly, on a small stool next to a chair.

The Springdance Shrub requires 7 clues. Here’s where to find them:

1. Greeting Card – Side Terrace – On a small green table crowded with books and other things.

2. Hydrangeas – Gardening Workspace – Green pamphlet in the shed in the Gardening Workspace, to the left, above some logs.

3. Pot Catalogue – Gardening Workspace – Catalogue in the shed in the Gardening Workspace, opposite the ‘Hydrangeas’ pamphlet.

4. Pigment Research – Garden Paths – Sheet of paper found on a dining table in the Garden Paths, past the crossroads that lead to the Long Hedgerow.

5. Soil pH Research – Garden Paths – Next to the Pigment Research sheet.

6. Bird Seeds – Bird Garden – Tin on a table at the northern edge of the Bird Garden.

7. Bird Poster – Bird Garden – Inside the structure at the southern edge of the Bird Garden, near where you found the Boat House key.

Springdance Shrub Explanation

From the Greeting Card, we learn the theory that the Springdance Shrub may be a plant that requires pollination.

We learn from the Pigment Research paper that there was research done on Anthocyanins in the Springdance Shrub, including the pH value associated with each color.

We learn from the Hydrangeas pamphlet that flowers with anthocyanin change color depending on the pH level of their environment, varying between red, purple, and blue.

Next, we learn from the Soil pH Research notes what the pH level of the soil will be, depending on the combination of pot type and chemical applied.

We learn from the Pot Catalogue what each type of pot looks like.

We learn from the Bird Poster that certain birds prefer to pollinate certain flower colors. You may have noticed a Robin bird in the Garden Paths area – as the Robin is attracted to red flowers, we will require the Springdance Shrub to have red flowers.

We learn from the Bird Seeds that we have bird seeds that we can use to lure the robin to the plant when it is ready.

Therefore, our first order of business, after potting the plant, will be to ensure the soil has the right pH value to give the flowers a red color, and then attract the Robin to pollinate it.

Springdance Shrub Process

If you pot a Springdance Shrub in the usual way, you will not get the right pH level required. As we require the plant to have red flowers, we need a soil pH level of 12 to 14.

If you check the Soil pH Research sheet, you’ll find only one combination of pot and chemical that goes in that range – 13.4, which is Sandstone pot + Seaweed.

So go to the Gardening Workspace and pick the Sandstone pot from the shed.

Take it to the potting station near the Folly and put soil and a Springdance Shrub seed in it. Water it as usual.

Take the pot back to the Gardening Workspace, put it on the saucer, and use the bottle of seaweed on it, which will cause the flower to turn red.

Now take the Red Springdance Shrub to the structure at the south of the Bird Garden and put it in the saucer there.

Our next order of business is to attract the Robin. Grab the bird feeder next to the Bird Seeds in the Bird Garden.

Take it up the Garden Paths area and hang it on the hook closest to the Robin’s nest.

Now step away from the bird feeder (quickly) and pick up the other bird feeder, which is closer to the Formal Garden exit.

Remember not to be too close to the Robin or it will fly back to its nest and you’ll have to start all over again.

Place this bird feeder on the hook further in the Garden Paths area, near the crossroads.

Step away again, pick up the first bird feeder, and place it on the hook near the dining table.

The next hook is on the other side of the dining table.

The one after that is near the stairs going down. Note that as this is a narrow space, you should go all the way around to retrieve the other bird feeder.

The next hook is at the foot of the stairs. Once again, go all the way around to get to the top of the stairs and back.

The next hook is near the plant-covered arch.

The next hook is in the bird garden proper, on the other side of the arch.

The next hook is near the center of the bird garden.

The next hook is near the structure to the south of the bird garden.

The final hook is inside the structure to the south of the bird garden, near where your Springdance Shrub plant is.

Once the Robin gets to the plant, the Springdance Shrub will bloom.
