Fool’s Emerald Seeds and Clues

The Fool’s Emerald seeds can be found on the Side Terrace, on a small table to the left of the blackboard.

The Fool’s Emerald requires 6 clues. Here’s where to find them:

1. News Article – Gardening Workspace – Contrary to the location mentioned in the game, this is in the Formal Garden and not the Gardening Workspace. It’s a newspaper near a picnic blanket, next to some books. You can find this area just after entering the Formal Garden through the Rose Garden.

2. Plant Chemicals – Side Terrace – Paper attached to a blackboard.

3. Bioluminescence – Side Terrace – Open book on a small table to the left of the blackboard. Next to where you found the Fool’s Emerald seeds.

4. Military Codes – Gardening Workspace – Open book found on a teal table next to a teal chair.

5. Note About Telegraph – Gardening Workspace – Paper found on a stepladder just outside the Gardening Workspace.

6. Morse Code – Telegraph – A sheet of paper explaining Morse Code, found attached to the inner side of the lid of the Telegraph. The Telegraph can be found under the Boat House, at the dock. Note that you must open the telegraph to find the Morse Code guide.

Fool’s Emerald Explanation

We learn from the Plant Chemicals sheet that the Fool’s Emerald has a chemical compound in it called “Luciferin”.

We learn from the Bioluminescence book that chemicals like Luciferin are responsible for causing a glowing effect in plants.

We learn from the newspaper article that a gentleman reported seeing a Morse Code light pattern coming from caves near his home. The specific pattern the farmer saw was for “Attention”.

Note that there is a book on spiritualism (found on the table near the lawn mower) that does not count as a clue, but that hints that the Will’o Wisp is an apparition that appears in dark places, such as caves. We can infer that this is in fact, the Fool’s Emerald.

We learn from the Military Codes guide that the abbreviation for ‘Attention’ in Morse Code is the combination of the letters ‘KA’.

Finally, we learn from the Morse Code guide that the letter ‘K’ is “dash – dot – dash”, and the letter A is “dot – dash”. Therefore, our combination is: “dash – dot – dash – dot – dash”.

If we can get the Fool’s Emerald into a dark place such as a cave, and we stimulate it with the appropriate Morse Code symbol, we can get it to bloom.

Fool’s Emerald Process

Plant a Fool’s Emerald as usual, making sure to water it.

Take the Fool’s Emerald into the grotto and place it on the saucer on the table there.

Pick up the telegraph from under the boat house, and take it over to the grotto, putting it next to the Fool’s Emerald.

Open the telegraph and press the buttons in the order “dash – dot – dash – dot – dash”. This will cause the Fool’s Emerald to bloom.

Oscilette Seeds and Clues

The Oscilette seeds can be found in the boat house, sitting on a windowsill to the right of the phonograph.

The Oscilette requires 4 clues. Here’s where to find them:

1. Weeds and Seeds – Boat House – An open book found on a table to the left immediately as you enter the Boat House.

2. Playing Cards – Boat House – Any of the many playing cards found strewn on the table in the center of the boat house. You only need to examine one to add the clue, but be sure to check them all out, including the face-down ones and the ones in the center of the playing board.

3. Boardgame Rules – Boat House – A sheet of paper found on the table in the center of the boat house, next to the board game.

4. Animal Heartbeats – Boat House – An open book on a small table to the right of the fireplace.

Oscilette Explanation

We learn from the Weeds and Seeds book that Oscilette seeds are picked up by animals and taken to their nest, where the seeds bloom while the animal is asleep.

We learn from the Boardgame rules that a player’s ‘animal’ can only pick up a food card if it matches the animal.

We learn from the Playing Cards that the Oscilette Seed is a ‘Field’ card. Referring to the Boardgame Rules again, we learn that the only animal matching a Field card is the ‘Red Squirrel’.

From the Animal Heartbeats book, we learn that when the Red Squirrel is asleep, its heartbeat slows to 120 BPM.

Therefore, if we play a 120 BPM record near an Oscilette seed, we should see it bloom, as the Oscilette will assume it is near an asleep Red Squirrel.

Oscilette Process

Plant an Oscilette seed (there is a potting station below the boat house). Don’t bother watering it.

Next, take it up to the boat house and put it on the saucer next to the phonograph.

Examine the records on to the left to see which one is 120 BPM (It’s “Meadow’s Bliss” by Trio de Mey).

Put it in the phonograph and turn the crank. The Oscilette should bloom just fine now.

Ending and Epilogue

Once you have completed your Herbarium by planting every plant listed in it, return to the Gatehouse.

Interact with the red Post Box to finally post your Herbarium.

After the credits, you’ll enter the epilogue. Go right into the library (or dare we say, classroom?) and approach the blackboard.

Take a left from the blackboard to find a letter from Arabella’s sister on a study desk.

Then, pick up the Herbarium you completed and put it on the bookstand near the blackboard to conclude the game.
