Return to Monkey Island Guide – Part 1 (Getting the Knife)

Part 1: A Friendly Place

Section 2 (Getting the Knife)

You are now free to explore Melee Island as you see fit. We’ll focus on getting the mop first. Head on over to Scumm Bar again and return to where the three pirate leaders are. Instead of talking to them, head through the door to the right.

Talk to the cook here and ask about the mop. This will reveal to you how you are going to get your mop – by making it yourself. To acquire the handle of the map, you will have to carve it from the mop-handle tree. Which, the cook won’t tell you where to find.

Head out of the bar now and proceed right to go to Low Street. After a conversation here, go all the way left to the shop with the globe sign on it – this is Wally’s Maps-n-More.

Talk to Wally in the shop and ask him about the mop. Seems Wally needs ‘a sliver of the wood’ of the mop-handle tree.

Exit Maps-n-More and enter the shop right opposite the street, the International House of Mojo (it has the Real Voodoo sign on it). Upon entering, you will automatically talk to the Voodoo Lady and acquire the Book of Hints.

Now look to the bottom of the screen and you’ll find a knife – the perfect implement to make slivers out of anything. Inspect it and then grab it.

After the conversation, head out of the shop and return to the docks.
