The Haunting Case: Apple Rots by the Tree can be found in this location on the map.
On the bridge, you will find a bloody rock that will start the quest.
Head straight off the bridge and kill the spirits that spawn. Keep going straight and climb down. Head towards the creek and once again you will be ambushed by spirits. Kill them all and find this fallen tree and duck under it to find a stack of letters.
Find these rocks and jump over them to get to the other side.
Kill the ghouls that spawn on that side. Jump over the fallen log and find the blood trail, follow the trail to find a strong-box and a grave. Inspect both to learn of the backstory. If you have already met the Scudders now is the time to talk to them. They are in this location on the map.
Once there, head up the path and you will meet Credence Scudder.
Search the house behind him now. Inpsect the letter on the table first, then in the next room check Beloved’s journal next to the bed – on the stool. Head out of the house, you have to go find Beloved now. He will show up unannounced though, so have a quick conversation with him and Jed’s ghost will show up. Talk to him now and you will find out more about what happened here. Head out of the house once the conversation is done and go to the right, over the two bridges. In the cabin ahead you will find Beloved sitting on a bench near the water – speak to him. You have to find Credence’s hideaway now, which is over here on the map.
Once you are there, enter the cabin on the cliff by climbing up the rope on the north side. Kill the Tormented that spawn. Inside the cabin, inspect the letter on the table. Then break the barricade to the left and head in. Inspect the bookshelf and the business plan on the table. Its time to talk to the Scudders. Back to this location on the map.
Once you are the cabin, head to the right-side window to eavesdrop on the Scudders plotting. After the cutscene, its time to choose. You can choose to Blame Credence or Beloved or Banish/Ascend Jedediah. Choose wisely.
Whatever you choose, you will receive 1200 XP and +1 Essence.
